Here I had to design a magazine layout based on the film Helvetica by Gary Hustwit. I had to incorporate my own photography of things using the font Helvetica and write a summary of the film as well, my own opinion of the use of the font. I believe that since Helvetica is such a neutral font it tends to be overused, and once you recognize how it looks it can be overwhelming to see everywhere. So, I wanted to base my design around the overwhelmingness of Helvetica. The first page is eye-catching and is meant to overwhelm the viewer. I used different techniques to receive this look by overleaping the images, using different color blending modes to add variety, and using the word Helvetica repeatedly. Breaking up the word, making it bigger or smaller, and adding pops of color. To add contrast, I made the other page have lots of white space.
