I was given a poorly designed restaurant food menu and I had to redesign it around a certain topic. I wasn’t allowed to change the menu items or restaurant name, but the layout was up to me. In addition, history was the topic given to which I had to base the design around. I also had to design a logo based on the menu and I had to modify the type in some way. For my design, I took reference from the movie called The Women King. The film displayed a tribe in Africa where they had an all-female battalion called the Agojie. Since the film was based on a historic event, I thought it would be interesting for this project. After noticing from the film and doing some research some of the Agojie’s uniforms feature red, yellow, and dark blue vertical lines. So, I used those colors to create a multi-colored border. I added texture to the background and have graphics of different weapons, silhouettes of the Agojie, and other objects.
